Trinidad order |

We received an order in February 2014 for Sabre which is the second, of a similar size, within a year! T & Tec is the state owned, single DNO in Trinidad. They take Sabre in the extensible form, circuit breakers and switches; making up their RMUs substation by substation using the supplied coupling kits to join switches and breakers together to form switch boards. This latest order was for 125 x VCE and 125 x SSE valued at £ 1 million. We were under stiff competition from ABB with their outdoor SafeRing RMU, which bears a striking resemblance to Sabre! With assistance from our agent Deva Persad we have ensured that technical compliance prevailed and we have won both tenders at a higher price. We will be shipping in June. |

Lucy Engineering UK Opens New Test Laboratory Early in 2014 Lucy Engineering opened its new test facility. This new lab gives the Engineering Team the ability to conduct in house testing for Dielectric, Temperature Rise and Mechanical Endurance. With our state of the art Haefely SGS 300kV Impulse test system we are able to generate impulse voltages simulating lightning strikes and switching surges up to 300kV. This will allow us to develop and test equipment up to 36kV in accordance with IEC regulations. The generator is coupled to a digital impulse analysing system which allows automated measurement and evaluation of the impulse voltage shapes. To complete the dielectric test suite we have installed a Hypotronic 7100 AC test transformer 100kV and a Haefely DDX9101 Partial Discharge detector. These two pieces of equipment allow the team to conduct power frequency and partial discharge testing on equipment rated up to 36kV again in line with the required IEC regulations. The AC transformer is PLC controlled allowing full programming and automated control while the Partial discharge detector can display and record PD values, applied voltage and time which are then all downloadable for detailed reporting. In our purpose built thermal test facility we have installed a 3000A 3 phase transformer to allow temperature rise testing during the development of MV switchgear and LV equipment. Two smaller 1000A transformer also situated within this Lab allow for the long term cyclic load testing of product such as the HSCO range. To finish our test facility we have created an endurance test lab, with a purpose built PLC controlled Endurance test rig allowing fast setup and full program control for number of operations and multiple feedbacks to stop on fault. |
